Excellent bib!

This is our fifth bib (our cat seems to get them off every now and then and leaves them somewhere on our property!) But since George has been wearing his cat bib outdoors, he has not caught a single bird (and we have lots of native birds!) The only way he is allowed outside!

Thanks for the photo Tracey and for persisting with careless George who keeps losing his bibs!

Good product but didn’t work

Put the bib on our kitty and she was used to it pretty quickly.

Unfortunately she came back after being out of sight briefly and the bib was missing only 2 days after purchasing it.

It seemed like it was secure with the hook/loop but unfortunately it must not have held.

Maybe some kind of button attachment might work more effectively.

Thanks for letting us knoow Marcus. I'm sorry the bib was lost so soon. The Velcro fastening has proven reliable over fifteen years once we changed to a military spec but it is there as a safety measure and designed to release if the bib becomes snagged. We always reckon better a lost bib than a trapped cat.
One thing you can do is to write your name / phone number on the back of the bib with a marker pen - it's surprising how often that sees them returned if lost. Meanwhile I'm sending you a free replacement in the post this morning and hope you have better luck ths time.

Effective as advertised

We’re on our second Catbib, as Phoebe eventually managed to lose the first one, but only after several months. She was a keen predator, but to our knowledge, has only caught two birds since wearing the Catbib. They both appeared to be fledglings, and we saw one happen, she just ran up to it, didn’t need to pounce. Very sad, but the Catbib doesn’t promise 100%. Phoebe is an adult rescue, we tried to keep her indoors, but she was desperately miserable.
Our only concern with the bib is the texture of the surface; a couple of times she’s collected a large stick insect when in the bushes. The creatures’ feet get stuck in the neoprene and then Phoebe’s struggling and attacking the insect to get it off. We’ve managed to extricate them, but the stick insects are hurt in the process. I don’t know if it would be possible to have a more plasticky surface? That would also be easier to clean. The bibs do get very muddy. They wash up well, but don’t really wipe clean, in our experience.
All in all, we are happy to have the Catbib and feel better about letting Phoebe out. The photo shows Phoebe just after returning into the house.

Thanks for your detailed review and comments Alison which provides useful information to help guide future refinements of the CatBib. To date, Neoprene has proven to be a sound choice of material and has performed well for over fifteen years. However, I take your point about it not being so easy to wipe clean and it may not always suit to pop it in the washing machine as we recommend.
You will appreciate than changing to a different material would be a major exercise involving trials, finding an alternative manufacturer etc. Currently the bibs are made in China, imported into the USA then distributed worldwide. If the proposed tariffs come into play then that may become unviable at which point manufacture in the US or elsewhere may be forced on us. Were that to happen then it would be a good time to look at the changes which you suggest but it won't be until late this year.
Meanwhils thanks for your support and positive comments.

Happy so far

We bought the regular cat bib, it has slowed down our cats ability to just attack, but we need to upgrade to the extra large, that will totally stop puss from attacking. Very happy with the product, like the high VIS version

Thanks Nigel, this parallels what the research has shown and what we know from eperience. The regular size will work fine for most cats, better than 4 out of 5, but for the more agressive hunters then the larger Big Bib may be indicated and we gget very few reports of failure with those. Cats being cats though, nothing is every 100% guaranteed!

My cat adjusted quickly to the cat bib and there have definitely been less fatality's in the yard!

Thanks Jacinta, that's exactly what we want to hear. Appreciate you taking the time to comment.
