A great collar

Excellent collar for cats and has a nice elastic part just in case kitty decides to get it stuck on a tree branch. Works extremely well with the cat bib.
Fantastic value for the product! I will be buying these from now on rather than the ones from Woolies that snap open too easily, and the very expensive ones from Petbarn.
The only downside is that the first one we purchased broke quickly; the sewing on the elastic seemed to undo within a week. However our second one (we bought a few at once) hasn't had that issue and is quite sturdy.
Overall would highly recommend. :)

Thanks for both your reviews.
I'm sorry one of the collars was defective and the stitching failed - we were not aware of that until today. So far as I know this has only happened once before over the past ten years or so. Please accept our apologies and a replacement collar is packed and will be posted to you today.
You're right aboout the snap release collars, we tend to get more lost bibs with that type which is why we prefer the elastic insert kind.
Thanks again.

Wish it had a bell included

Needs bell but otherwise fine

Thanks Vanessa. The reason no bell is attached is because bells have been shown in various trials to reduce predation of birds by between 25% and 40% as against the CatBib with 85% reduction in predation. We have had a couple of owners attach bells to bibs but they have not made any discernible difference apparently. Hence no bells on bibs. Cats are pretty cunning and soon learn to move carefully without the bell making a sound and that's what seems to reduce their effectiveness.

Bird rescue

Max our cat has caught but not seriously hurt one bird in the two and bit weeks he's been wearing it. Initially we thought to order the larger bib, we will if there are any more incidents

Thanks for the feedback which raises an important issue about the CatBib and what we claim it can, and cannot do. We base the claim on the Murdoch University research which showed that the bib reduces predation of wild birds by and average of almost 85%. This is not the same as saying it will stop all cats from catching all birds all the time, though from feedback we know that does happen with some cats.
The larger size Big Bib was developed for those determmined hunters on which the regular size has failed to work well and we get very few reports of failure with the bigger size. However, for the majority cats the regular size performs very well and that is why we recommend using it first. Hopefully Max will get fed up with his failures and give up the effort to catch birds unsuccessfully, but if not by all means try the larger size.
